Training Details & Course Structure
The Remote Casualty Care (RCC) Program is designed for teams operating in high-risk and remote environments. It ensures that they have the skills,
knowledge, and confidence to provide immediate, life-saving care before advanced medical assistance arrives.
This two-day intensive training includes:

Pre-course Online Learning & Assessments: Ensuring all participants have foundational medical knowledge before attending the face-to-face
training.

Face-to-Face Immersive Training (2 Days): This training combines hands-on skill development, scenario-based training, and high-fidelity
simulations replicating real-world emergencies.
Key Learning Objectives
Participants will develop the capability to respond to various medical emergencies in remote environments, focusing on trauma management, casualty
care under stress, and resource-limited medical response.
The RCC curriculum follows best practice guidelines, including the MARCHE patient assessment methodology:
- Massive Haemorrhage – Tourniquets, wound packing, and haemostatic agents
- Airway – Basic airway management and positioning
- Respiration – Chest injury management and vented chest seals
- Circulation – Blood on the floor and four places more – shock management
- Head Injury & Hypothermia – Patient monitoring and protection strategies
- Evacuation – Patient movement techniques and handover procedures using MIST (Mechanism, Injuries, Signs, Treatment)

- Multiple/mass casualty triage using "Ten Second Triage (TST)"

- Extended casualty care principles & remote trip planning
- Communication planning, including aviation signalling (PACE)
Certificates & Nationally Recognised Training
On successful completion of the RCC program, participants will be awarded the following nationally recognised qualifications:
- HLTAID009 – Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation
- HLTAID010 – Provide basic emergency life support
- HLTAID011 – Provide first aid
- HLTAID013 – Provide first aid in remote or isolated sites
- TacMed Australia RCC Certificate of Completion
Each participant will also receive:
- A Remote Casualty Care Quick Reference Card Set
- An RCC Patch
- A TacMed Casualty Card for field use
